They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.
John 14:21As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
John 15:9-10for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
John 16:27For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
John 3:16I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made know to you everything that I have heard from my Father.
John 15:15I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
John 17:23How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God.
1 John 3:1The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair bowed down with care, God gave his Son to win,
His erring child he reconciled, and pardoned from his sin.
Could we with ink the ocean fill and were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry,
Nor could the scroll contain the whole tho' stretched from sky to sky.
O, love of God, how rich and pure, How measureless and strong.
It shall forever more endure 'Tis saint's and angels' song.
We are to love one another with a perfect love because "Love" is of God, because Love is manifest by Christ, because Love is our testimony, because Love is the assurance of our salvation, Love is confidence in judgment, Love is reasonable. God first Loved us, we Love, and we Love others because He Loved us.
We can never truly describe a love that is so far beyond our words or understanding. Words cannot convey and our minds cannot conceive of the love that God has for us.
God's love is contrary to the very core of man's selfish nature. So often we love because it serves us to do so.
There is a profit motive behind much of what we call love. Couples marry because they feel they can't live apart.
They profess that they need one another, that each fills and fulfils the other's needs.
What is often overlooked is that, despite the romantic rhetoric, the love shared is essentially selfish and self-serving.
It is founded not on commitment, but on performance.
God's love however stands in stark contrast. God took the initiative to love us first before there was anything in us worth loving.
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
In fact as sinners we are described as alienated (from God) and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds.
God is always reaching out to us with His Love, but we are the ones who have the choice to receive it or not.
God's Love is a gift that we receive only when we ask Christ into our hearts. God is that Love.
But even then, that Love is not automatic. It will only flow through us when we are pure and cleansed vessels.
God loves us, we are special to Him. God doesn't love us because you are a good person or do everything right. He loves us because He is love.
Love is not something God does, it is something He is, It is His nature.
The apostle John, the apostle who had leaned his head upon the breast of Jesus, the one who had stood before the cross to drop those words which no man had ever dared to dream before.
These words were the most startling revelation when they were first spoken... "God Is Love"
What a Great Love is God's Love. Nothing can separate us from it. Neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
God's love does not depend on our love for Him or anything else of merit in us. There are no conditions to His love. God's love takes the initiative, before we love him, even though we don't love him.
God's love is seen and measured by the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.
But the opposite needs to be stated also, apart from faith in Jesus, outside of Jesus, not God's love but only God's wrath is to be found (John 3:36).
In other words, God is love, yes. But those who reject Jesus Christ and look for some other way to God do not have God's love but His fierce anger for rejecting His plan of salvation.
Because of His great love, God has made it possible that no human being has to suffer any punishment, which is the consequence of sin. God loves us with Perfect Love.
The way we think about how God feels about us often is rooted not in Scripture, but in our personal experience and personal history.
If we want to know how God really feels about us, we should refer to the written Word of God. God really does love us. Paul reminds us that we can experience the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God created us to be loved. He wants to love us, He wants us to love each other, He wants us to love and accept ourselves. Without this foundation of love and acceptance, there will be no joy and peace.
God loves everyone and he desires us to have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
Most scriptures that talk about God's love you will almost always read about Christ's sacrifice. The death of Christ was the boldest and most tangible expression of God's love.
John says that God loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
There is nothing more powerful than love of God, it is profoundly relentless.
God, "who is love" and His love is a love that never stops pursuing and giving, pursuing and giving until we understand that we are the object of His love.
It is a deeply profound truth that will affect our lives in extraordinary ways if we come to understand just how deep God's love for us is.
We are incredibly valuable in God's eyes and His Love for us is incredibly valuable.
To say that God loves the sinner is to say that light can dwell with darkness, when it cannot. You cannot have the love of God in you and the love of the devil at the same time.
If a person has the love of God in them, then such a person belongs to Jesus. The same is for those who serve the devil, they have his love in them.
It is impossible to walk with God without knowing His love. It is impossible to please God without appreciating His love. We love because He first loved us.
He gave his son because He loves us, as we are. We are beautiful to him. He made us to be lovely to him.
As we move forward in our life and surrender to God's love and enter into the pattern of his love in relationship with others, we are promised that our joy will be complete.
His love is intensely human and intensely personal. Agape love is not love freed of emotion, it is a love purity.
1st John: I've seen, I've touched and I've felt his presence.
He had seen Jesus love people when He lived here on earth.
Before his pain and his suffering, he had seen the way that He dealt with the people on whose path He came, the way He noticed people, the way He touched people, the way He welcomed people.
All of these actions of Jesus cried out to John that "God is love."
Love is one of the most important and fundamental concepts in the New Testament. The word used in Galatians 5:22 is Agape.
We can get to know God and His love better by reading all about His love that's in the Bible, by talking to Him through prayer, and by being with those who also love Him.
The better we know God, the easier it is for us to obey his commandment to love Him and others.
Consider God's wisdom. He knows all things that ever were, are, or ever shall be, and He is a God whose omniscience enables Him to comprehend not only what is, was, or shall be, but even contingent things: what might have been under all possible circumstances.
There is nothing that escapes His mind.
There are birds that fly high in the sky, who have not only microscopic but telescopic vision, and yet they are gropingly blind compared to the eye of God who sees all things, who sees the flashing neurons in our brains as the thoughts flash through our minds, who knows everything about us.
And yet, as vast and incomprehensible as the wisdom and omniscience of God is, even so vast and in comprehensible is "His Love" through which we are reconciled to Him.
Not one of us knows why God loves us and has saved us. We know that God is love, and that we are his creation, that we are his children.
However it is still mysterious to realize that even as we continue to sin, as we continue to fail him, as we continue to break the promises that we make to him, as we continue to be disobedient to him, he still loves us as much as he ever did.
God never says, That's it, no more love, I've had it with you.
We can't do anything to get God to stop loving us. Yes He is saddened by all the bad of the world, but God's unconditional love is far beyond our understanding.
It is God's love that longs to forgive us and set us free from our guilt and the sin that separates us from really experiencing His love.
His love is the only thing that can satisfy us.
God created us, He loves us so much that he wants us to spend eternity with Him. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Nothing can separate us from God's love.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
Right this very minute we may not feel that God loves us at all. However, if we continue to read and absorb all that He inspired to be written in the Bible about His love, eventually the reality of it will take authority over our feelings.
Then suddenly, one day, we will realize we do only believe we are loved, but we will "feel" we are loved.
God doesn't know a person He doesn't love.
Scripture makes no promise that we shall always feel loved, nor that circumstances will always make it obvious that we are loved. God simply promises that we are loved.
No suffering or tragedy will ever separate you from God's love.
Romans 8:35-39
Jesus offers us is nothing less than participation, a sharing in the very life a God, a living within the love of God, a love that he died to proclaim, a love that death could not silence.
God has loved you from before the foundation of the world. God did it for nothing more and nothing less than being you.
There is nothing that we can do to make God love us.
There is nothing that we can do to make God love us because he already does so with a love of astounding intensity.
God's love is absolutely unconditional. His love is not based on what we have, what we do, or what we achieve. God's love is not determined by our behaviour or our conduct.
It is not dependent on our background or our birth or status in society. God's love is not influenced by anything that we do. When we are good he loves us and when we are bad he loves us.
When we work hard for him he loves us and when we don't work hard for him he loves us.
This unconditional love is given to us because we are his creation, and we are His beloved children.
A lot of people think that God is only interested in rules, but God is all about love.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the first and greatest commandment and the second is the same; Love your neighbour as yourself
Matthew 22:37-39
Let no one say I don't know what I love. Let him love his neighbour, then he will love love itself.
In fact he will know the love with which he loves better than the people he loves. Therefore, God who is love will be better known to him than his neighbour, better known because God is more present, better known because God is more interior, better known because God is more certain.
The greatest thing in the world is to come to the realization that God is not out to punish us for wrong-doing but that He loves us unconditionally and does indeed have a wonderful purpose and plan for our life.
Christian's are the focus of God's divine love. God's love is the highest level of love. God's is a divine love of perfection and enshrined within us if we live His way of life.
Sometimes we can fool other people with a smile when you really are sad. But we can never fool God. He always knows what we're thinking.
God knows how we feel and wants to help us. Why? because He made us and loves us and desires to love us.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
1 John 4:7,8; 11,12
When we didn't so much as love Him, He loved us. Without any form of reciprocation on our part, no response from us, He has loved us.
We owed a debt we couldn't pay, and He paid a debt He did not owe.
Not only did He pay your debt, He paid it by crucifying His Son.
If we have asked for God's forgiveness and for Him to take over our lives, then we have the His Spirit within us and we can ask Him to show us how much he loves us.
God "is" love and He loves each and every one of us more than we could ever imagine.
Loves endures long and is patient and kind, love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
It is not conceited, arrogant and inflated with pride. It is not rude, and does not act unbecomingly.
Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self seeking, it takes no account of the evil done to it, pays no attention to a suffered wrong.
It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when the right and truth prevail.
Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person.
Its hopes are fadeless under all circumstance, and it endures everything, (without weakening).
Love never fails.
The essence of love is giving. And the degree of love is measured partly by the costliness of the gift to the giver, and partly by the unworthiness of the recipient.
The greater the chasm between these two, the greater the demonstration of love.
God's Love is indescribable.
It is love, not fear, that has bound those of us who love God as willing captives to His chariot wheels.
Love that does not spoil but lures and conquers, love that, while it loves the sinner, hates his sin.
Love that disciplines with unstinting hand, that the chastened may, at last, be a partaker of His holiness.
This love is the power that has overcome men so far, and that is destined to do its perfect work till God is all in all.
The God who is love expressed His love by sending His Son for us. The origin of love is in the nature of God, the manifestation of love is in the coming of Christ.
We are to love one another because we see the essence of that love manifest in Jesus Christ.O love that casts out fear,
O love that casts out sin,
Tarry no more without,
But come and dwell within!
True sunlight of the soul,
Surround us as we go;
So shall our way be safe,
Our feet no straying know.
Great love of God, come in!
Wellspring of heavenly peace;
Thou Living Water, come!
Spring up, and never cease.
Love of the living God,
Of Father and of Son;
Love of the Holy Ghost,
Fill thou each needy one.
Horatius Bonar 1861Behold what wondrous grace
The Father hath bestow'd
On sinners of a mortal race
To call them Sons of God!
'Tis no surprising thing,
That we should be unknown;
The Jewish world knew not their King,
God's everlasting Son.
Nor doth it yet appear
How great we must be made;
But when we see our Saviour here,
We shall be like our Head.
A hope so much divine
May trials well endure,
May purge our souls from sense and sin
As Christ the Lord is pure.
If in my Father's love
I share a filial part, Send down Thy Spirit like a dove,
To rest upon my heart.
We would no longer lie
Like slaves beneath the throne;
My faith shall Abba, Father, cry,
And Thou the kindred own.
Isaac Watts 1709Come, let us sing of a wonderful love, Robert Walmsley 1831-1905
Tender and true, tender and true,
Out of the heart of the Father above,
Streaming to me and to you:
Wonderful love, wonderful love,
Dwells in the heart of the Father above.
Jesus the Savoir this Gospel to tell
Joyfully came, joyfully came,
Came with the helpless and hopeless to dwell,
Sharing their sorrow and shame:
Seeking the lost, seeking the lost,
Saving, redeeming at measureless cost.
Jesus is seeking the wanderers yet;
Why do they roam? Why do they roam?
Love only waits to forgive and forget;
Home, weary wanderers, home!
Wonderful love, wonderful love,
Dwells in the heart of the Father above.
Come to my heart, O thou wonderful love!
Come and abide, come and abide,
Lifting my life till it rises above
Envy and falsehood and pride:
Seeking to be, seeking to be,
Lowly and humble, a learner of thee.Contributed by Harriet Beaumont-Tomlinson. Oxfordshire. UK.
