I was brought up in a God loving home.
Went to church every time we could. And I was taught things of the Bible.
After I got married, Wanda (my wife) tried to get me to go to church, and I did go a few times. One day the Sunday school teacher asked me to pray and I didn't go back.
The Holy Spirit kept after me for many years, so hard until one night when we were working at the boys ranch in Summerdale we were at church and the Lord said this is enough. I didn't even remember leaving my seat.I was going down the isle and looked back and Wanda was trying to catch up with me.
When the Lord tells you to do something you better do it. I gave my life to Christ that night. I was baptized at Green Acres Baptist church after we left the boys ranch. Wanda and I both believe we were led to the boys ranch and Green Acres Baptist church.
One time when I was in the hospital I had been put to sleep several times and this time I think they gave me too much of whatever it is they give you to put you asleep, Anyway I thought I went to Heaven, and it was so peaceful you can't explain it.
I saw another place in Heaven I wanted to go but the Lord said you are not ready yet. Jesus was showing me how beautiful Haven is and a place I would not get to go to if I didn't accept him as my personal savior.Well thank God I am ready now.
About a year and a half ago I had chest pains, and Wanda carried me to the emergency room. They said it was an acid reflux, This past February I had the same thing, I was not going to make a fool of myself again, and was not going to the emergency room. I had taken everything I could and it didn't help. So I had to go.
The entire test they ran showed I was all right. Dr Pattieson was not satisfied, because of my family's history of heart attacks. She sent me to Mobile Providence Hospital, I had 100% blockage in one artery, ninety % in one, and sixty % in another.
With this lung disease (COPD) I had a rough time, and the Lord brought me through it. The Doctor said I had another heart attack before this one. I think that was the first time I had chest pains. Again I know the Lord was watching over me then.
This past December I had a Dr. appointment in Mobile,(about 35 miles from home) and didn't think I could drive and Wanda couldn't drive in Mobile, so I asked my daughter to take me. She was going a different way than I would have and I asked her why? she said it was closer. Anyway we had exited the causeway and I was at the point that I could barely breathe, She asked me if I wanted to go to the emergency room, I said yes. She didn't take the entrance ramp to the interstate hwy. and was going thru downtown Mobile.
She was going to the Mobile Infirmary but made a wrong turn and by the grace of God we were at the Women's and Children's Clinic. Which was a lot closer. I know now that God had planed her route. After they got me stabilized I was transported to Providence Hospital.
The first night I was there, I almost didn't make it. The Dr. told my wife to call in my family and discuss putting me on life support. I prayed and said Jesus, you said if you are a true child of God, ask and you will receive. And I thought I saw Jesus standing at the foot of my bed, and he said just trust me.
I told Wanda about it and we prayed. I was not sure if what I saw was real. I though it might have been my imagination. The next day our Pastor Bro. Randy Byrd came to see me. I told him what I had experienced. He said that was very possible. Believe and God will take care of you.The next day my brother, sister, daughter and niece were in my room and a lady came in. I thought she was a nurse. She told me she was a lab technician and she was up there to see someone else. She took my hand and said I don't know what to say, I was led to your room, can I have a prayer with you? She prayed and we had a long talk about Jesus. And she told me sometimes the Lord has to take you down to build you up and all I had to do was just trust him Then I knew what I saw the night before was real. God has his way to get you to believe. I told her she was a God sent angle. She came back to see me 3 or 4 times after that. She has called since I have been home. We will still be in touch with each other.
I thank God I am able to go to church and serve Him. And I thank Him for my loving, caring, wonderful wife who has stood by me all the way. She has Parkinson's disease. God has been good to her to; we have so much to thank Him for. We have surely been Blessed.
I think the Lord has spared my life for a reason, Maybe this testimony is it. To let people know that I have been proven to that there is a True living God. He will prove it to you if there is a doubt in your mind.
And He will take care of you if you will live for Him and just trust Him.
May God bless you as He has me.
