WHERE IS GOD

In creating man many years ago
God gave us a free will,
Although many years have passed us by
We operate that way still.

God may stand at the door and knock
But we must let Him in,
Many continue to keep Him out,
We deny Him again and again.

When a really bad thing, a catastrophe,
Really comes and hits us hard,
A voice can be heard, maybe two or three,
Each of which wonders just where is God.

A shooting at school, a building destroyed,
Planes used as missiles in the air,
Panic was seen almost everywhere,
And some of us said "God didn't care."

Our founders wove God in the foundation
Of this great land of ours,
But today the opposite is the case
As we use our God given powers.

The shooting in school is understandable,
We don't allow God in there,
As we continue to deny access to Him
This does not show that He does not care.

God loves us today as He did back then
And desires to be a part of your life,
Put out a welcome mat and let Him in,
He can change children, husband or wife.

The way you may choose to use your free will
Is really up to you,
Remember that God is limited by what you say
As well as by what you do.

THANK YOU GOD

Have YOU thanked God for the blessings
He sent your way today?
Do you ever consider how your life
Could have gone another way?

Sometimes we can't see the forest
Because there are so many trees,
The master may use so many things
To bring us to our knees.

Do you see your life to always be
One operating in the red?
Stop zeroing in on the negatives and
Count your many blessings instead.

Our Heavenly Father knows your needs
And He knows just what to do,
For if He takes you to a problem
He'll surely see you through.

So, don't forget to thank Him
For all the things He's done,
You're always on the mind and in the heart
Of The Father, Holy Ghost and Son.

TRUST GOD

I'd fly away, was what I heard,
If I had wings like that beautiful bird,
Another voice said, Oh no, not I,
God never intended that man should fly.

Did He plan that it would take all day
To visit a friend who lives five miles away?
When our eyes are dim and our bodies old,
That we be hungry and our houses cold?

Most of the things that we go through
Are not because of God but because of me and you,
Whether you are in the sunlight or in the shade
Is a direct result of the choices that you made.

Be a man, stand up and admit what you do,
The Father is still able to take care of you,
He said He would never leave you alone,
We're in trouble when we step out on our own.

HIS LOVE

God so loved the world that He gave
His only Begotten Son just to save
The human race so immersed in sin,
Giving man a life that would have no end.

It is His wish that none should be lost,
And He was willing to pay the cost,
He did everything that He had to do
To make a way for both me and you.

Christ said that He was going to prepare
A place for the saved up in the air,
The city called Heaven is really our home,
When we move in there no more shall we roam.

The things done by GOD are and shall be
Based on His love for you and for me,
His thoughts towards us He pronounced them "good",
We give Him praise and glory as we should.

I love The Lord, and I know He loves me,
Just look at me and you will have to see
How many ways He has touched my life
As He used friends, children and wife.

If you let GOD have His way in your life
He may decrease the valleys, trouble and strife,
This paves the way to your heavenly home,
And once you are there you shall never more roam.

EMOTIONS

We all have emotions telling us what to do,
Think we're in control, no, they tell both me and you,
That's why some love one and some love another,
They control how we feel as we deal with each other.

We all have our own ideas, meek or mild,
As to how we should respond as we raise a child,
We may feel that we failed as a father or mother
If we express more love for one over another.

Just take a look at the bible, the word of GOD,
The directions given there are not that hard
But are there to tell us just what we should do,
And favoritism is shown there-in thru and thru.

Pharaoh's choice was Moses, not his own blood son,
And Joseph was without a doubt his father's chosen one,
The prodigal son found himself and he returned home,
Dad was happy but brother wished he'd continue to roam.

John was the decipal we are told that Jesus did love,
So it must be right if one person is placed above
Even if they are a major part of a whole,
Emotions make the choice, not your mind, body or soul.

BLESSED

One night when I got into bed
I could neither sleep nor rest,
This was caused by a large and growing pain
In the middle of my chest.

I climbed out of bed and sat in a chair
But the pain would not leave me alone,
So I got up and headed to my car
And drove to the hospital on my own.

They checked me out from head to toe
And even front to back,
They made sure, without a doubt,
I didn't have a heart attack.

There was something the doctors found,
A spot on my left lung,
Since cancer was not even thought about
Their praises are still sung.

I look back over the many years
Of the pain and the fear of that night,
I was really, really blessed back then,
For GOD let me win that fight.

DISCIPLINED FREEDOM

I heard a preacher speak today,
His words were for you and me,
They centered around the general theme
Of what it means to be free.

When GOD designed and fashioned us
He gave us a free will
To use within a set of boundaries,
And it is that way still.

Adam and Eve were first in line
With things they could not do,
The dos and don'ts have always been
For them, for me, for you.

Some like to think of freedom
Without boundaries of any kind,
One says that just because it is theirs
One can do whatever enters their mind.

Because of this society suffers,
At home we lock ourselves in,
There is danger today whether inside or out
Because some act without discipline.

We fail to guide our children,
Or correct them when they do wrong,
They think they can do whatever they please
As the journey of life moves along.

We have come to a point in the world today
Where to kill is an acceptable thing,
We steal, we lie, we cheat, we scheme
And some done in the name of The King.

There is one thing I'd like you to understand,
Let this hit you squarely on the chin,
Your freedom today and forever more
Must stop where another's begin.

ALL THERE IS

I had a thought the other day
To live before you die
You must be able to make a break
From each day as it passes you by.

You cannot live in the yesterdays
No matter how hard one prays,
It does not help to constantly long for
What we call "the good ole days".

It is fun and wise to plan ahead,
To earn, invest and borrow,
Much of what happened yesterday
May control what comes tomorrow.

Dreaming of yesterday or tomorrow
Seems unimportant somehow
If we forget to live today,
For all there is, is now.

WORKING FOR HIM

There are many working in the vineyard
Winning souls for our loving God,
They worked so hard from sun to sun
To apply His word and to get things done.

If you wish to become the apple of His eye
Then get in His word, words to live by,
They point the way to just how we should live,
Like rather than to receive it, it is better to give.

They also tell us that every knee shall bow,
There's nothing beyond "every" so bow to Him now,
His words teaches things like love and obey,
And to reach God in Heaven, Jesus is the only way.

Should you keep your bible on a shelf
I suggest start to read it for yourself,
His word will become a real part of you
As you are shown what He wants you to do.

THE WORD

My dear friend have you not heard,
Although some may consider it odd,
That in the beginning was The Word,
It was alive and dwelt with God.

The power of the Almighty King
Was given to THE SON,
God really did not have to do that
For the three of them are one.

When Jesus came to spread the word
Nothing more important could He say
Than in our desire to reach our home on high
That He is the only way.

Man was created and loved by God,
It didn't happen the other way,
If we do not try to get things right
There'll be a debt we will not wish to pay.

We all will have an eternal life
Which we must begin someday,
Will you now accept what Jesus did
Or in the end will you have to pay?
