Forever Her Meadow

For the last time I enter our meadow
As the early morning sun cast shadows,
A field of wild flowers spreads out before me
As a patch work of colors shining brilliantly.

I stare at the dewdrops clinging to the flowers
And recall her happiness in this place of ours,
This time I come alone to our place in the sun
Where there were two of us -now but one.

Our time together was so brief it seems
Before illness came to shatter our dreams.
Here in our meadow where first we met
Stirs memories I shall never forget.

Tenderly I remove the cover from her urn
And over the flowers her spirit I return.
I sprinkle her ashes where we lay for hours
Now forever my love lies among the flowers.

Just Listen

You know the power of God's wonder
As you claw your way from under,
The quagmire of wickedness and sin
You have been living in.

You've heard the call of God's voice
Urging you to make Christian choices
To walk a path you've barely known,
So many sinful seeds you've sown.

With tenderness He persistently calls
For you to willingly surrender all,
If only you'll grasp His gentle hand
God will lead you to the Promised Land.

His words echo through your being
His image everywhere you're seeing,
As you turn the pages your of your life
Recalling reasons for your strife.

Listen to the whispers in your ear
As you go through life's years,
Take heed God's stern warnings
Of a judgement day coming.

Listen to God's voice inside you
Telling you the right things to do,
And soon your heart will know peace
As your tribulations ebb then cease.

Crying Time

I want to say I love you
How deeply and truly I do.
My emotions I can't deny
But you make me cry.

Again you enter my door
And promise to leave no more,
Again on your promise I'll rely
But you'll make me cry.

Your promises are broken
Soon after their spoken,
Then again you say goodbye
And again you make me cry.

My heart wants to believe
That this time you won't leave,
I want to say I'll love you till I die
But I know you'll make me cry.

I've loved you from the very start
But I know you'll break my heart,
I'll only pretend to believe your lies
Because you always make me cry.

The Family Bible

Once I was adrift, awash in sin
I had no purpose deep within.
My soul was lost to worldly ways
Then I found out that Jesus saves.

The old family Bible willed to me
Opened my eyes that I may see
That Satan's path I was racing down
Would never take me heaven bound.

I read that frayed Bible every day
Then on my knees I would pray,
I prayed God make me pure again
As a reborn child free from sin.

For the first time in all these years
My mind is free I know no fears,
Satan's shackles are cast aside
And in my heart the Lord abides.

Jesus washed all my sins away
I'm a happier person every day,
He is my daytime guiding light,
My guardian through the night.

The old family Bible saved my soul
By pointing the way for me to go.
I had to kneel before I could stand
Before my God as a saved man.

We told You So

I hear crickets in the woods
As if they understood,
Chirring they mock me in song,
Knowing you are gone.

Neath moons yellow glow
Breezes whisper "we told you so".
Stars twinkle and brightly shine
Teasing this heart of mine.

In velvet darkness I repose
Where the wild roses grow,
Listening to sounds of the night,
Wondering why you took flight.

Why did you spurn my love?
I beg the stars above.
Why were your vows spoken?
If only to be broken.

Everyone told me so,
That you would quickly go.
I gave my heart and soul,
You left pain and sorrow.

Now in dark lonely solitude
Night sounds whisper rude.
"We warned he would go"
We told you so.

I Believe

I believe God made the forests full of trees,
The valleys and mountains, a calming breeze.
I believe God created deep oceans and seas
And all living things that be.

I believe God grows the child and each red rose
And there is not one of us He doesn't know.
I believe God painted the prairies and plains wide
And in each of us His love abides.

I believe God created all the streams that flow
And stormy nights with winds that rage and blow.
I believe God sees each teardrop we shed
And hears the cry of the sick and helpless abed.

I believe God made fragrant flowered meadows
And gives solace to those in life's dark shadows.
I believe God hears each and every prayer
Granting forgiveness to show loving care.

I believe God offers eternal life
When we are done with all mortals' strife.
We must ask God into our hearts and lives
It's the only way any of us will ever survive.

Worlds Apart

The mystery of your eyes
Belie the hidden cries
Of sensual emotions desire
That lights my heart afire.

Your exotic love beckons to me
To quench a thirst that cannot be,
Our worlds are too far apart
To ever beat as one heart.

I love you as no other before
But now I walk out the door.
I pray I'll get over you in time
As our broken hearts untwine.

Your world of palm trees and sand
Lie across oceans from my land.
Two cultures apart in time and space
Divided by families of a different race.

My family cannot understand
Why I ask for your hand,
Your family so steeped in tradition
Will never permit our ambition.

So I must go and you remain
But I shall never be the same.
My darling you shall ever be
My angel of the desert to me.

Try Prayer

When you think you're at the end
And you can no longer pretend
That life is treating you fair
Just kneel and try a little prayer.

When you feel you can't go on
Keep your faith in God strong,
He is all you need to get through
All the troubles that befall you.

When your paths all end in disaster
And you start doubting the hereafter,
There is hope just around the bend,
With prayer heartaches will mend.

When worrying takes all your time
Until you have no peace of mind,
Pray to Jesus who gave his all
He'll pick you up when you fall.

When you're feeling down and out
And gloominess is lurking about
And you seem stuck in woes mire
Pray to God for the help you desire.

When you weary of the load you carry
And impending doom seems to tarry
Lift your voice to God in prayer
There is help waiting for you there.

You'll find the strength you need
When at long last you concede
That with life you need some help
And praying to God is the first step.

God's Table

Where will your heart be friend
When your time on earth ends?
When that last supper is called
Will God have forgiven all?

Will you rise to sit at God's throne
Or will Hell be your eternal home?
Will you be cleansed and pure within
Or bathed by Satan's sin?

At life's end, if you wish to rise up
You must drink from The Lords cup.
Sip nectar from His soul saving flask
He will forgive, if only you ask.

When Heaven's first supper bell chimes
Will you be at God's side or left behind?
Ask forgiveness while you are able
If you wish to sit at God's table.

The other choice for you is gloom
Sins not forgiven feed your doom.
You can repent before it's too late
"The Father" waits at Heavens Gate.

Ask God to forgive your wanton ways,
Walk in His light the rest of your days.
And when your time on earth is through
To his bountiful table, He'll welcome you.

Praise and Prayer

Stand up! Give God a shout
To your redeemer cry out,
Praise the Father in joyful song
Raise your Bible to his throne.

Our God is great! Tell him so
If you love him let him know.
Lift your voice loudly proclaim
You're living faith in his name.

Thank him for blessings he lay
Upon your being every day.
Pray he forgive your willful sin,
Into hurting heart pray him in.

Raise your voice to heaven in prayer
Beseech our Lord deliver you there.
Help weary and weak rise to feet
Chorus loudly, his miracles seek.

Shout out children of the King
Let your jubilant voices ring
Spread his gospel from sea to shore,
Gather the sheaves from Satan's door.

Take your neighbor by the hand
Preach God's love across the land,
He will reward his faithful throng
When he shepherds the flock home.
